During the 1980s, Solidus was involved in the Liberian Civil War, where he raised numerous child soldiers. Among the child soldiers he met were Raiden, who Solidus saw as the best of the small boys unit. 

Solidus would become the 43rd President of the United States under the name of George Sears. In 2005, Solidus commanded Revolver Ocelot to retrieve Metal Gear Rex during the Shadow Moses incident. Solidus hoped to use Rex to destroy the Patriots. But, Solid Snake destoryed Rex and thwarted FOXHOUND's plans. After the incident, Metal Gear Rex and the Genome Army were made public, and the Patriots forced him to resign from office. The Patriots then planned for Solidus to be assassinated, but Solidus goes underground to avoid their rath. 

In 2009, he enlists the help of Dead Cell as well as the Gurlukovich mercenary army. With the help of the two groups, Solidus establishes the terrorist group "Sons of Liberty", and while posing as Solid Snake, the group takes over the Big Shell. Solidus takes President Johnson, as well as several other people hostage, and plans to use Arsenal Gear to take disrupt the Patriots' plans to gain control of digital information. Solidus confronts Raiden, who Solidus knows from somewhere before, on the connecting bridge between Shells 1 and 2. Then he is confronted by Solid Snake, who uses a grenade launcher to blast Solidus off of the bridge. But, Solidus is saved by Vamp who is piloting a Harrier II. In the insuing battle, Solidus loses his left eye. Solidus confronts Raiden again atop Federal Hall after Arsenal Gear crashes through Manhattan. Solidus tells Raiden, who he now realized was Jack, the child soldier he knew from the Liberian Civil War, that he was the one that killed his parents. The two then battle using swords, and Raiden is able to kill Solidus.
